It is so nice
to have electricity again after being off for over a week. We are
in the Avondale / Cottage Lake convergence
zone that seems to get snow and rain when nobody else in the area
does, more gray skies than you would wish
on your worst enemy, and winds that shred trees, power lines, roofs
and anything else in its path. My poor old Akita
thought the world might end that Thursday night; Dante and the cats
settled beside me on the couch and wondered
why we were sleeping in the living room. Not a good time…
If you missed the Christmas Party at Jan’s
home, you missed a good time! Wayne, Jan’s husband, some
how
(magically?) removed all the bones from the turkey before cooking
it. Serving the turkey was fast and easy. And however
it was that he cooked it, it was absolutely delicious. The annual
Christmas steal-a-present was also very enjoyable
after we managed to remember the rules – all two of them.
Who ever brought the gift wrapped Baileys: What a great
idea that was! Thank you Wayne and Jan for once again hosting the
club Christmas Party and welcoming all of us into
your home.
Please do not forget the Judge’s Dinner
on 12 January at the Best Western in Puyallup. This is always a
very enjoyable
evening, in a comfortable setting, with delicious food and stimulating
conversation with our judges. Most of the
judges have traveled a long distance to be with us and it is always
a pleasure to greet them in a relaxed manner the
evening before our show. Please RSVP to Muriel, if you haven’t
already.
Rogers has posted the numbers for our show and
they are at least as good as last year. Jan is happy (she said
so herself).
And if Jan is happy, the whole Show Committee is happy. We reached
our limit for the Rally Trial (150 teams)
and our Obedience Trial will be well attended, as usual.
If anyone would like to volunteer to help with the show, and has
not already done so, please contact Jan, Rusty or myself. There
is always more than enough work on the day of the show and more
hands helping makes things go much smoother.
Wishing you and yours a safe, happy New Year!
Can’t wait to
see what surprises AKC has in store for us in 2007.
Respectfully,
Dee Carlson
